Vlog #7: On avance ! Date for town hall meeting

Madame Sarah announces the dates for our next community update! Following the release of guidelines and protocols from OSPI, we will be hosting a town hall meeting for current families on Friday, June 12th. During this meeting we will share more about what the coming school year will look like.

Hello! Bonjour! I’m Sarah Yaakoby, the Acting Head of School of North French School and I’m coming to you this week with a message about evolution, about adapting. There’s a French proverb that says “Qui n’avance pas recule.” That means that a person who does not move forward, who does not evolve, who doesn’t adapt moves backwards. And we don’t have that choice in this situation. We have to adapt to survive and we have to evolve. Last week on Thursday, the school State of the Union presentation was for our community to share our strategy and our vision for moving forward for next year. I presented along with members of our board and we said that we would have further information for you soon. We have received a notification from OSPI that they will be releasing regulations for K-12 schools in the state of Washington on Monday, June 8th. We want to get that information to you as soon as possible.

We are planning our community town hall presentation for Friday, June 12th the same week that those regulations will be released from OSPI. We want to get those regulations to you and how that’s going to impact our school model and the protocols we’re going to use as soon as possible. We will be sharing an invitation with the community soon for that town hall discussion on June 12th. I’m looking forward to seeing you all at that presentation. And in the meantime, if you have any questions or concerns that are particular to your family, please do reach out to me to have an individual meeting. I’m happy to meet with you and address your concerns. I look forward to sharing the regulations, the protocols, and the model that we will have in place for reopening our school in September with you on Friday, June 12th. We have to evolve, we have to adapt. This situation puts us to the test and we are ready to do that. We are ready to evolve as we must in order to make our school the best it can be, even in these challenging circumstances. We’re ready to move forward with you. Thank you. Merci.
